At the end of 2003, the restaurant and bar once known as Captain Billy Bangs Pub changed ownership. After a thirty year run as one of Portland's original American pubs, a transformation took place. The result is what we like to call Comfortably Tropical.
Located in the renowned John's Landing Water Tower on Macadam Avenue, Billy Bangs' Restaurant & Castaway Lounge is certainly the best of both worlds, where comfort food and cocktails from the mainland are coupled with tropical delights from islands around the globe, including the West Indies, South Pacific and Indonesia. The outcome of combining both cuisines on one menu is truly a remarkable success. The hearty sustenance of the comfort food portion of the menu and the savory and spicy tropical segment means there is something that will appeal to nearly everyone's taste for great food and drink, even kids!
The space that Billy Bangs' occupies has been renovated to create an airy, tropical feel, and boasts perhaps one of the most beautiful garden patios in the city. Centrally located in Southwest Portland, we are within minutes of downtown Portland, Sellwood/Moreland, and Lake Oswego. With abundant covered parking available all year round, it would be hard to find a comparable location for a meal out or a more ideal spot to host a gathering.
